I picked up a BRW bridge blank on ebay some time ago and just got around to using it. Dicovered tonight that it is only .30" thick compared to a Martin bridge that was .39 Went ahead and shaped it all up but wondering if it will be too thin? Considering gluing a piece of wood to bottom to bring it up in thickness, maybe some EIR headstock veneer material. The neck is not installed yet so I think I can compensate for this slight difference if I leave it as is. Any thoughts?? |

It is too thin to use, you will have to send it to someone who builds classical guitars ![]() Actually laminating a piece on the bottom will work fine. Because the piece would be laminated onto the bottom it should hide well if rosewood. |

Shawn is right, I also build some classicals ![]() His advice will also work but unless there's something very special about that particular bridge blank why not just get a new one, they're not that much. One less glue joint. Of course you could also adjust your neck angle so it will work. I believe Taylors are .31 but am not positive on that one. |

Mine are .250 at times. So were pre war up to early 50's Gibsons, most of which still have their original bridge intact today.... |

Rich, I'd say use it and adjust the neck for the height. |

OK, thanks to all for your help on this. I think I will continue to finish it off without the adding to the bottom and then test the neck angle to see how it will align and if all goes well will continue down that road. I might also buy another blank as a backup. Thanks again guys |

I think .250 is fine as well - thats pretty much the limit though IMO. I saw an older Ryan a couple years back and it was barely 1/4 inch. I had never seen a bridge that low before ever (at least not a guitar with no neck resets or I assume no bridge shave) |
